Shree Vaishnav Parishad Harrisburg (“SVPH,” “the Temple,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website svpharrisburg.org (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the Site, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described below.

We collect information in the following ways:

a. Information you give us directly, such as when you:

  • Make a donation (Quick Donation, Mandir Loan Repayment, Archana Request, Dollar a Day, Lifetime Membership) — name, mailing address, email, phone number, and payment information (processed by our third-party payment processor; see Section 5).
  • Purchase an item from the SVPH Shop — name, shipping/billing address, email, phone number, and payment information.
  • Submit the Volunteer Request Form — name, contact details, and information about your interests/availability.
  • Submit an Upper Hall or Lower Hall Reservation Request — name, contact details, event date, and event details.
  • Submit an Archana Request or other puja/seva request — devotee name(s), gotra, nakshatra, or other details you choose to provide for the ritual.
  • Contact us through the Contact Us page or by email/phone.
  • Sign up for any newsletter, mailing list, or event notification we may offer.

b. Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our Site (built on WordPress/Elementor) may automatically log standard technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring pages, and approximate location, typically through cookies or similar technologies (e.g., analytics tools, embedded Facebook content).

c. Information from third parties. If you interact with our Facebook page or donation/payment widgets embedded on the Site, those platforms may share limited information with us consistent with their own privacy policies.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Process and acknowledge donations, issue tax-deduction receipts, and maintain donor records;
  • Fulfill and ship Shop orders;
  • Respond to volunteer sign-ups and coordinate volunteer activities;
  • Review and respond to hall reservation requests and coordinate event logistics;
  • Perform requested archanas/sevas and communicate about them;
  • Respond to general inquiries submitted through the Contact Us page;
  • Send Temple updates, event announcements, or newsletters (only if you have opted in, where required);
  • Maintain the security, functionality, and performance of the Site;
  • Comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations applicable to a 501(c)(3) organization.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. How We Share Information

We may share information with:

  • Service providers who help us operate the Site and our programs, such as payment processors, e-commerce/shipping providers, email or newsletter platforms, and website hosting providers — solely to perform services on our behalf.
  • Facebook, to the extent you interact with our embedded Facebook link or content, subject to Facebook’s own privacy practices.
  • Government or tax authorities, as required for our 501(c)(3) reporting and donation-receipt obligations, or as otherwise required by law.
  • Temple committee members or volunteers, on a need-to-know basis, to coordinate reservations, volunteering, or seva requests.

We do not share your information with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes without your consent.

5. Payments

Donations and Shop purchases are processed through a third-party payment processor (e.g., a credit-card or online-payment gateway). SVPH does not store your full payment card details on our own servers; payment information is handled directly by the processor in accordance with its own privacy and security policies. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of the payment processor used at checkout.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The Site may use cookies and similar technologies to remember preferences, understand how visitors use the Site, and support embedded features (such as Facebook widgets or shop functionality). You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; doing so may affect some Site features.

7. Children’s Privacy

The Site is intended for general audiences and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

We retain donor, volunteer, reservation, and order information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, including recordkeeping required for 501(c)(3) tax and accounting compliance, after which it is securely deleted or anonymized.

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect information submitted through the Site. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your Choices and Rights

  • You may opt out of email/newsletter communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting us directly.
  • You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you, subject to our recordkeeping obligations (e.g., donation and tax records we are legally required to retain), by emailing contact@svpharrisburg.org.
  • Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under applicable law (e.g., Pennsylvania or other state privacy laws).

11. SMS / Text Messaging Communications

If you provide your mobile phone number and opt in to receive text messages from SVPH (for example, Temple event reminders, donation confirmations, volunteer or reservation updates, or Archana/seva notifications), the following applies:

  • No sharing of mobile numbers. SVPH does not share, sell, rent, or otherwise disclose your mobile phone number or SMS opt-in status to any third party or affiliate for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Your mobile information is used solely by SVPH for the purpose for which you provided it and will not be shared with third parties for marketing/promotional purposes.
  • Message frequency. Message frequency varies depending on Temple events, your donation or volunteer activity, and the specific program you participate in (for example, up to 20 messages per month). Frequency may vary.
  • Message and data rates may apply. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan.
  • Opt-out. You may opt out of receiving text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message from us, in person at our temple location, by contacting us at contact@svpharrisburg.org or 717-889-5396. Reply HELP for assistance.
  • Carrier liability. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

12. Third-Party Links

The Site links to third-party sites and services (for example, Facebook and payment processors). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third-party sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

TERMS OF USE

Welcome to svpharrisburg.org (the “Site”), operated by Shree Vaishnav Parishad Harrisburg (“SVPH,” “the Temple,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. Use of the Site

The Site provides information about SVPH and Shree Laxmi Narayan Mandir, including Temple hours, events, and calendar; ways to donate; an online shop; and forms for volunteering and hall reservations. You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of, or restrict or inhibit the use and enjoyment of, the Site by any third party.

2. Eligibility

By using the Site, you represent that you are at least 18 years old, or are using the Site under the supervision of a parent or guardian. Forms requiring personal or payment information should only be submitted by an adult authorized to provide that information.

3. Donations

All donations made through the Site are voluntary contributions to SVPH, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, and, except as required by law or where a donation is designated for a specific restricted purpose (e.g., Mandir Loan Repayment), are generally non-refundable. Donation receipts for tax purposes will be provided in accordance with IRS requirements. Please consult your own tax advisor regarding the deductibility of your contribution.

4. Shop Purchases

The SVPH Shop offers items (such as books and religious materials) for purchase.

  • Pricing and availability of items are subject to change without notice.
  • Payment is processed through our designated third-party payment processor at the time of order.
  • Shipping/pickup, returns, and exchanges are handled as described at checkout or as communicated by SVPH; please contact us at contact@svpharrisburg.org with any order issues.
  • Proceeds from Shop sales support the Temple’s charitable and religious activities.

5. Forms and Requests (Volunteering, Reservations, Archana, Contact)

When you submit the Volunteer Request Form, Upper Hall or Lower Hall Reservation Request forms, an Archana Request, or the Contact Us form, you agree to provide accurate and current information. Submission of a form does not guarantee approval of a volunteer role, hall booking, or specific request; SVPH will follow up regarding availability, scheduling, and any applicable reservation policy (see our published Reservation Policy) or fees.

6. Hall Reservation Policy

Use of the Upper Hall and Lower Hall is subject to SVPH’s Reservation Policy, available on the Site. By submitting a reservation request, you agree to comply with that policy, including any applicable fees, deposits, cancellation terms, and rules of conduct for use of Temple facilities.

7. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Site or its related systems;
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Site’s servers or networks;
  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information through any form (including donation, shop, volunteer, or reservation forms);
  • Upload or transmit viruses or other harmful code.

8. Intellectual Property

All content on the Site — including text, images, graphics, the SVPH logo, and religious/educational materials — is owned by SVPH or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may view and share Site content for personal, non-commercial purposes, but you may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from Site content for commercial purposes without our prior written consent.

9. Third-Party Links and Services

The Site may contain links to third-party websites or services (including Facebook and payment processors) that are not owned or controlled by SVPH. The Site and its content (including event dates, calendar information, and Temple hours) are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, SVPH and its officers, directors, trustees, employees, and volunteers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, the Site, including but not limited to donation processing, shop orders, or hall reservations, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SVPH, its officers, directors, trustees, employees, and volunteers from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your use of the Site or violation of these Terms.
